The Hyperion Chronicles

Welcome to the world of Hyperion Chronicles, an epic seven-book saga where mythology meets futuristic innovation, and where spiritual depth collides with political intrigue, raw survival, and unforgettable adventure.

This universe was born from years of dreaming, struggle, and self-discovery — shaped as much by history and heritage as by fantasy. Set across a richly layered world inspired by medieval kingdoms, Polynesian culture, indigenous traditions, and the lawless grit of the Wild West, Hyperion Chronicles fuses science fiction, myth, and psychological realism into one continuous, immersive narrative.

You’ll meet daring pirates, fallen kings, mystic warriors, outlaw factions, corrupt empires, and ancient forces older than memory. These stories don’t just entertain — they challenge. At their heart are questions of identity, legacy, loyalty, and what it truly means to rise from the ashes and reclaim your place in a broken world.

If you’re drawn to the sweeping world-building of The Lord of the Rings, the moral complexity of Game of Thrones, the rebellious spirit of Pirates of the Caribbean, and the slow-burning transformation of characters like in Breaking Bad, you’ll feel right at home here.

A Story Rooted in Soul

While I didn’t grow up on a heavy fantasy bookshelf, I’ve always been a student of story — not just what happens, but why it matters. My creative foundation came from history, myth, scripture, philosophy, and the struggles of real life. I’ve studied the tension of Cain and Abel, the descent in Paradise Lost, the weight of moral choice in Crime and Punishment, and the archetypes Carl Jung wrote about in Man and His Symbols.

Hyperion Chronicles carries that DNA — a world where energy crystals power weapons, where mobsters and monarchs walk the same halls, and where upward-aiming sacrifice matters more than brute force. It’s a place where truth must wrestle with shadow.

My heritage runs deep through this world — Hawaiian, Native American, Hispanic, Irish — reflected in the names, nations, languages, and spiritual undertones of the saga. This isn’t just fiction to me. It’s personal. It’s lived. And it’s written in pursuit of meaning.

The Foundation Beneath the Fiction

The Hyperion Chronicles isn’t just a fantasy series — it’s a spiritual and intellectual excavation. Beneath the battles, beasts, and betrayals lies a story shaped by years of personal reflection, historical research, and philosophical exploration.

A special note of gratitude goes to Dr. Jordan B. Peterson, whose books and lectures — from Maps of Meaning and 12 Rules for Life to his deep dives into Genesis, Exodus, and We Who Wrestle with God — profoundly influenced the moral and spiritual framework of this world. His teachings on responsibility, sacrifice, and meaning helped me understand that storytelling isn’t just entertainment — it’s sacred.

To bring this universe to life, I immersed myself in works that dissect the human condition, challenge the soul, and explore the myths that shape civilization. These books laid the foundation:

            •          Empire of the Summer Moon by S.C. Gwynne

            •          Paddy Whacked by T.J. English

            •          Sparta by Thomas Beckett

            •          The Gambino Family History by W.G. Davis

            •          Black Flags and Blue Waters by Eric Jay Dolin

            •          Hamlet by William Shakespeare

            •          The Silmarillion by J.R.R. Tolkien

            •          Dante’s Inferno by Dante Alighieri

            •          Notes from Underground by Fyodor Dostoevsky

            •          Man and His Symbols by Carl Jung

            •          Outwitting the Devil by Napoleon Hill

            •          Save the Cat by Jessica Brody

From these sources came the moral dilemmas, mythic archetypes, and layered character arcs that shape the Hyperion universe. This series was never meant to just entertain — it was built to confront darkness with light, to tell the truth even when it hurts, and to remind us that the battle for meaning is always worth fighting.
